Party Heaven
The Ins and Outs to Creating Your Own
Cedar City, Utah, September 26, 2016-Learning how to create an EDGE project and make time for it while being a full time student can be difficult. Lauren Randall did just that while being a full time nursing student at Southern Utah University.
Lauren Randall worked really hard for a couple months to come up with an amazing party for a client. Randall had a close friend come and ask her if she could throw or cater a party, because she had seen some of the decorations Randall had made before, for other parties. She was more than happy to help and set to work communicating with her client to figure out what kind of a party she wanted, and what kind of decorations were wanted. Once figured out what was needed for the party Randall started working any free moment she had on hand making the decorations for the party. She also came up with the food for the party and overall setting up the party.
With the help of her family, her hard work and determination Randall was able to learn to communicate better with others. She also learned how to better communicate with others which see sees as an asset for her future career as a nurse. She also bettered her planning and organizational skills while learning to plan a party. However, that wasn’t all she learned, Randall stated that “I learned how much of an amazing support system I have, with how much help I got from my in-laws, I couldn’t have done it without them.”
Southern Utah University has every student complete an edge project before graduating. These projects are to help the student learn about the real world and how to work in it while getting to do something they want. The EDGE project has what would seem endless possibilities for a student to do, they can create their own or have a mentor help them. Overall it is strengthening our students for after graduation.
